Upward extensions on residential dwellings

The government has announced plans to promote upward extensions of residential dwellings and blocks of flats under proposed changes to the National Planning Policy Framework. The idea behind the change is to encourage the enlargement of buildings to provide new dwellings and residential accommodation where the prevailing character of the area allows. The focus is on sustainable growth within accessible urban areas. The announcement is a reminder of the long-awaited publication of the consultation draft of the National Planning Policy Framework in March 2018.
