Planning fee increases in 2018
From 17 January 2018, Local planning authorities will be allowed to start introducing increased planning fees after new regulations were brought in at the end of last year. The increased planning fees are capped at 20% above the existing, with the proceeds being kept by the planning departments of local authorities with a view to maintaining and improving their resources. The increased fees will mean that householder applications will increase from £172.00 to £206.00 and full applications for new dwellings will increase from £385.00 to £462.00. Whilst perhaps modest increases for single developments, the cost of the planning fee increases will soon add up on larger multi-unit developments.
