JAMES HUTCHISON

The practice was established by James Hutchison who has a proven track record in working for both local planning authorities and private consultancy. After completing a degree in town planning from University of Sheffield, James first started working for a local planning authority in Surrey in 2004. During his first planning job, James gained a further Masters degree in town planning, and achieved qualified status as a Chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI). Since then, he has worked his way up through senior officer levels in local planning authorities in Surrey, Sussex and London, and was employed as a senior planner for London based planning consultancy Rolfe Judd Planning.

 

Through his time spent working in both local planning authorities and planning consultancy, James has gained considerable experience in dealing with a wide and varied caseload of applications and appeals, such schemes vary from small-scale residential and commercial developments to large urban extensions of in excess of 2,500 houses. In private practice, James has put together applications for small and large mixed used and residential developments across London and the South-East of England. James is adept at providing expert planning witness services to local planning authorities and private sector clients, and has represented the same at numerous high profile informal hearings and public inquiries. He also regularly speaks at public meetings and property networking events, and lectures at University College London.

 

James lives on the south coast near Arundel in West Sussex with his wife and two sons.
